Bedfordview police bust alleged imposters using blue-light vehicle

The three arrested for impersonating the police alleged that the vehicle they used was borrowed from a Norkem Park police officer.

Gauteng Department of Community Safety officers apprehended three African males for impersonating police officers on December 4.

Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lillian Modiga men were arrested on the N3 South.

They were driving a Kia Sonnet with blue lights and claimed to be doing undercover operations when stopped.

“Upon request, they failed to produce identification or appointment certificates, leading to a backup call to Bedfordview Crime Prevention officers,” said Modiga.

The arrested men were detained at the Bedfordview Police Station.

During questioning, they alleged that they had borrowed the vehicle from a Norkem Park police officer.

Modiga added, “A warrant officer from Norkem Park confirmed the vehicle belonged to him, and the case is under investigation.”
