EMPD recovers stolen vehicle abandoned after crash in Edenvale

A stolen Renault Kiger was recovered by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) after being abandoned following a crash in Edenvale.

Officers from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Community Liaison Unit (CLU) recovered a reported stolen white Renault Kiger in the Edenvale area after it had been abandoned following a crash.

While patrolling, officers received a lookout alert for the stolen vehicle.

The tracking company confirmed that the Renault Kiger remained within Edenvale.

Following the GPS signal, officers located the vehicle at the exact spot where it had been left.

Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to have been involved in an accident, with the keys still in the ignition and no suspects nearby.

Further checks revealed that the car had been fitted with false number plates, indicating an attempt to conceal its identity.

The EMPD continues to urge residents to report suspicious activity and remains committed to recovering stolen vehicles and preventing crime in the community.
