Five undocumented delivery scooter riders arrested in Bedfordview

EMPD operation in Germiston North precinct leads to arrests, traffic fines and vehicle seizure

Five undocumented male delivery motorcycle riders were arrested during a law enforcement operation in the Bedfordview area on Friday, 20 February 2026.

Officers from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), deployed within the Germiston North precinct, conducted the operation between 14:00 and 18:00.

Officers conducted patrols along Van Buuren and Nicol roads, leading to multiple arrests for immigration violations.

The suspects, aged between 27 and 45, are originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Malawi.

They were stopped on Van Buuren Road, between Van Der Linde Road and the N3 on-ramp. Additional arrests were made on Nicol Road between Bothma Road and Skeen Boulevard.

According to the EMPD, the men were arrested for contravening the Immigration Act and detained at Bedfordview Police Station. They are expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.

An unroadworthy delivery scooter was confiscated and taken to the Boksburg EMPD Vehicle Pound for safekeeping.

During the operation, officers issued 17 written notices for various traffic and by-law infringements.
