12 vehicles impounded in Edenvale CBD clean-up operation

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) conducted a targeted operation to clamp down on illegal parking, unlicensed trading and by-law violations.

The EMPD carried out a clean-up operation in the Edenvale Central Business District (CBD) on Tuesday, March 24, targeting illegal parking, unlicensed mechanics and unauthorised street trading.

The operation involved the EMPD Truck Towing Unit, By-Law Compliance Unit and Edenvale precinct officers.

Areas covered included Andries Pretorius Street, Plantation Road, Central Avenue, Van Riebeeck Road, as well as Second and Fourth streets.

During the operation, six light motor vehicles, two light delivery vehicles, two heavy motor vehicles, two trailers used for food trading, and three motorcycles were impounded.

Authorities also confiscated perishable goods found on the trailers. All impounded vehicles and goods were transported to the Kempton Park pound.

“The operation forms part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that Edenvale and other areas in the City of Ekurhuleni remain clean, safe and compliant with municipal by-laws,” the statement released by the EMPD read.

Follow-up operations are planned to maintain law enforcement visibility and ensure continued compliance in the CBD.
