Man jailed 12 years for Elandsfontein shooting
A forty-five-year-old former security officer is sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court following a 2023 murder.
The Germiston Magistrate’s Court sentenced 45-year-old Albert Mzukhanyayo to 12 years’ imprisonment for murder.
Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lillian Modiga reported that the sentence was made on January 28. The case had been investigated by Detective Nicodimus Mokoena.

Recounting the incident, Modiga said on October 23, 2023, at about 07:30, Mzukhanyayo was involved in an altercation with a victim at Elandsfontein Railway Station.
“Mzukhanyayo, an Eagle Eye Security member, retrieved his 9mm firearm and shot the victim several times on the upper and lower body, resulting in death.”
Modiga further said the suspect had been arrested on the scene and detained at Bedfordview Police Station.
