Tavern shooting leaves one dead and three injured

On April 29 at about 18:45, Bedfordview SAPS members and other relevant role players attended to a crime scene of murder and attempted murder at a tavern in Elandsfontein.

Bedfordview spokesperson Sergeant Lillian Modiga reported that there had been a complaint where it was alleged that two African males wearing white caps were observed standing outside the tavern monitoring movement inside.

“One suspect entered, purchased a beer, and exited. Both suspects later re-entered the tavern and opened fire,” said the spokesperson.

She said three victims sustained injuries and were transported to Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Germiston.

One victim was declared dead on arrival. Sergeant Modiga said the identities of the victims are unknown.
She reported, “No suspects have been arrested at this stage. Four cartridges were recovered from the scene, and the case is under investigation.”
