Shooting on Riley Road in Bedfordview sparks major security response

Several security response services and the SAPS are reportedly at the scene of a shooting on the corner of Riley Road and Boeing Road in Bedfordview.

Mamba Strike Force Control Centre has reported that Mamba Reaction, the SAPS and other security response teams are at the scene of a shooting in Bedfordview.

The shooting occurred at about 16:14 on July 29.

The Mamba Strike Force Control Centre further stated that the matter is under investigation.

“Motorists should avoid the area and make use of alternative routes, as this is an active investigation.”

No further information is available at this stage. Updates will be provided as they become available.

Meanwhile, community members on the Basically Bedfordview community group are seeking answers after one member posted: “Does anyone know what just happened on Riley Road?

“Driving the kiddies home from school, hearing gunfire [and] seeing security guards run onto the road with their guns out? Another hijacking maybe? We are living in the Wild Wild East Rand.”
