The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) and the EMPD launched a comprehensive festive season safety campaign on December 1.
The launch took place between Olifantsfontein and Winnie Mandela in Thembisa.
Along with the city’s Executive Mayor Sivuyile Ngodwana, various EMPD divisions including social crime prevention, were joined by security services and the SAPS.

During the launch, different departments distributed road safety pamphlets, inspected cars and drivers and administered traffic fines.
The campaign aimed to educate and remind drivers about traffic laws and also to wish them a happy and secure holiday.
Ngodwana wished drivers a safe holiday season, as part of his commitment to fostering a safer environment for all road users.
“By increasing the number of police officers on the road, we want to guarantee drivers are following traffic laws and ensure we put the safety of our community members first.
“Drivers are advised not to drink and drive, not to drive without a licence, and not to drive an unroadworthy vehicle to avoid getting into legal problems and causing accidents,” said Ngodwana.
