A Christmas wonderland in the heart of Edenvale
Keeping Up with Santa promises a festive haven for locals with a variety of Christmas ornaments, gifts and unique festive experiences for customers with their set up and display.
A one-of-a-kind Christmas shop in the heart of Edenvale has taken locals and neighbours by storm.
Officially launched in 2023 to spread holiday cheer all year round, Keeping Up with Santa* promises a festive haven for locals, featuring a variety of Christmas ornaments, gifts, and unique festive experiences for customers, complete with its unique set-ups and displays.

It was established by Janeike Jones, owner of Keeping Up with the Jones, a second-hand household and office furniture shop also located in Edenvale.
As a confessed Christmas lover, Jones has been collecting vintage decorations over the years.
“Every time we cleared out a deceased estate or an elderly person moved to a retirement village, I would hang on to all their vintage Christmas décor. I had a massive storeroom filled with all the stuff I had hung onto over the last three years,” explained Jones.
She said they have had an overwhelming response since opening the shop.

The inspiration for what will soon become a holiday-themed store came about last year when Jones decided to decorate her second-hand household shop for Christmas. The idea was inspired by her daughter, who encouraged her to use the décor she had collected.
“We took out the most exquisite glass bubbles – items from Germany and Greece – and we set up almost the whole shop. I said to my personal assistant at the time that we could open this to the public since there is nothing like it, and she agreed.”
With the success of the Christmas décor display, she decided to expand the shop’s scope.
The shop will celebrate not only Christmas but also Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Halloween.

She has also introduced a café inside the shop, collaborating with retired individuals and those from old-age homes to supply the café with homemade treats like koeksisters and fudge.
“I was doing it for my daughter at first, but it has become more than that. With the café, I want to empower and enrich pensioners. It will be a traditional, cliché coffee shop,” shared Jones.
Keeping Up with Santa is more than a business venture for her. It is a way to give back to the community.
She said coming to the store is about experiencing the festive spirit.
*This article has been amended. The holiday-themed store was previously referred to as The Holiday Shop. However, following trademark litigation, the Gauteng High Court, Pretoria, ruled that Janeike Jones had no right to use the brand name “The Holiday Shop” in relation to her store, as the name had been trademarked in favour of another company, Produsell Retail. The court ruled that Jones had to cease using the name on all platforms. Janeike Jones and the local entity are in no way affiliated with The Holiday Shop, a registered trademark.
