SAPS arrests eleven suspects and confiscate drugs
A 39-year-old suspect was detained after he offered police officers a R2 000 bribe.
Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members recently arrested 11 people, recovered three vehicles and confiscated narcotics.
The media liaison officer of the SAPS Rapid Response Services, Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, said the arrests happened between October 15 and 19.
He said officers arrested six individuals for possession of drugs at the Vusi Musi and Emangweni sections, Tembisa, Ext 2 in Ivory Park and Mayfield, Putfontein, recovering crystal meth, Cat (cocaine) and nyaope (heroin).

On October 17, officers patrolling the N12 pulled over a white Ford Ranger towing a white Toyota Fortuner.
“A search led to the arrest of a 37-year-old foreign national when officers recovered 20 sealed plastic bags of dagga,” said Giblin, mentioning that the dagga was valued at about R20 000.
“While detaining the suspect at the Benoni SAPS, another 39-year-old was detained after he offered members R2 000 to release the dagga suspect. The members were commended for their stance against bribery.”
On October 18, members following up on information from a tracking company arrested a 37-year-old suspect at a hotel on Kempton Road, Kempton Park.

“Officers recovered a silver Renault Kwid reported for the use without owner’s consent on a Norkem Park case,” said Giblin.

On October 19, BFS members received a request for backup from security personnel in Boksburg.
Giblin said officers pulled over a blue BMW 3-series with false number plates and two occupants.
“Officers tested the chassis number, which revealed the vehicle was sought in connection with a May Vereeniging hijacking case,” said Giblin.
Officers arrested the two suspects, who will face charges of possession of drugs, bribery, the use of a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and the possession of a hijacked motor vehicle at local magistrates’ courts.
