SAPS promotes four Bedfordview officers
“I encourage the community to stay engaged with the police, support the CPF and participate in patrols to help maintain safety,” shared Ndaba.
The Bedfordview Police Station bade farewell to four officers after the SAPS Ekurhuleni district promotions on November 30.
On November 13, Ekurhuleni district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole conferred 45 ranks to newly promoted SAPS members – 24 lieutenant colonels, 19 captains and two warrant officers.
After eight years at the station, Lieutenant Sipho Aaron Nkosi was promoted to lieutenant colonel at Johannesburg Central.

“When it’s time to move on, you have to move. You must grow in life. I know I will face many challenges, but I’m ready for it,” said Nkosi.
He thanked the community and fellow officers for their ongoing support.
“Together, we have faced many challenges, but the community was always supportive. I thank you for your unwavering support.

“A major thank you to my senior member, Colonel Ndaba. He has taught us a lot about how to combat crime, engage the community and solve problems,” said Nkosi.
Another officer at the station for eight years, Dina Khosi, was promoted from captain to lieutenant colonel at the Benoni Police Station.

Reflecting on her time at Bedfordview, she appreciated the relationship between the SAPS and the community.
“I will miss the community involvement. My message to the community of Bedfordview is to keep supporting the police and the management we leave behind,” Khosi said.
After spending more than 30 years at the station, Maputhi Sam Masehela, who began his policing career at Bedfordview in 1992 after college, was promoted to lieutenant colonel. He will now serve at the Randburg Police Station.
After spending three decades at the station as part of the human resource division, he described it as his “home”.
“This was my home. Everyone here now was welcomed by me. To new members coming to the station, continue where we left off,” said Masehela.
Colonel Sinothi Ndaba has left the Bedfordview Police Station after four years and is now the Vispol commander at the Benoni Station.

Looking back at his time at the station, Ndaba emphasised the importance of working with the community.
“What made Bedfordview stand out were our collaborations with various stakeholders.
“I wish that despite whatever is implemented at Bedfordview as a team, my colleagues will promote the good from of it. We must keep on learning,” he said.
He said working with the community through forums, church programmes, business forums, and the CPF made a huge difference.
“We saw an improvement internally and externally. The team has grown stronger, and there’s been a major shift in the environment at the station for the betterment of the community,” he said.
Speaking about most memorable cases, he said, “Nothing is more rewarding than seeing suspects convicted, particularly in cases like murder. We worked tirelessly on cases to ensure justice was served.”
His words of advice for new officers and the community: “The partnership between the police and the community is crucial. Without it, we can’t effectively tackle crime. I encourage the community to stay engaged with the police, support the CPF and participate in patrols to help maintain safety,” shared Ndaba.
