SAPS data typist Theresa Kgopa: Be mindful of where your phone is at all times. Don’t leave it lying around or unsecured in your pocket or handbag. Once your phone is gone, all your personal information is at risk, including scanned documents and banking apps. Criminals are not deterred by phone security anymore, not even on iPhones.
Constable Mollent Mbaba: People should be cautious when using ATMS. Don’t look away or get distracted if someone approaches you while you’re busy. Focus on your transaction first. It could be a tactic. One person distracts you while another tries to steal your money.
Fire officer Thuli Mabatha: Always ensure electrical appliances like kettles are out of children’s reach and keep cables safely tucked away. When bathing children, start by running cold water first, then add hot water to avoid scalding.
Fire officer Lerato Molefe: Never sleep with a brazier inside the house because the smoke can be fatal. Avoid leaving heaters on overnight; a blanket could catch fire if it comes into contact with the heater.
