Probus Bedfordview has announced, with great sadness, the passing of former club president Malcolm Colin Cahill Manning, affectionately known to members as Mike.

Born on June 30, 1939, Mike was committed to volunteer service throughout his life. He died on the evening of June 17.

“For many years, he was a devoted Rotarian, active at both club and district levels, and he served as past district governor of Rotary District 9300,” said club secretary Tony Annis.

In more recent years, he dedicated his time to the St George’s Village Management Association, where he served as a director and past chairperson, continuing his passion for community upliftment and leadership.

He joined Probus Bedfordview in August 2009 and later served as club president for two consecutive years, in 2022 and 2023.

He is fondly remembered for his pragmatic approach to club leadership and his focused enthusiasm, which inspired many within the organisation.

“He will be sadly missed,” said Annis.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Joan, Mike’s partner of 64 years, and to all his family and friends. Rest in peace, Mike.”

His memorial service will be held at St James Presbyterian Church on the morning of June 27.
