Bedfordview residents tee off to support local cleanup initiative

A sold-out and successful Better Bedfordview Golf Day Fundraiser set to help continue the mission to make Bedfordview better to benefit all.

Community cleanup NPO, Better Bedfordview, hosted a successful golf day at Glendower Golf Club.

The event took place on October 10 and raised funds that will help Better Bedfordview continue cleaning up, restoring and maintaining roads, pavements, parks and public spaces in Bedfordview.

“We are thrilled to have had a sold-out golf day, with a full field of golfers and overwhelming support from our generous sponsors and prize donors,” said Better Bedfordview chairperson Marina Constas.

She thanked everyone who contributed to this year’s memorable golf day, including all the hole sponsors, prize donors, golfers, organisers and volunteers.

“We are especially grateful to our lead sponsor BMW Bedfordview,” she said.

“All of the incredible, generous businesses and individuals who got involved help us continue our mission to make Bedfordview better to benefit all.

Together, we can achieve Better Bedfordview’s vision of improving South Africa, one suburb at a time.

“And, while making a real difference in our neighbourhood, we are also making a difference in the lives of the 25 previously unemployed people who now work in the Better Bedfordview cleanup team,” Constas said.

The Better Bedfordview Golf Day culminated in a dinner and a festive prize giving. Top honours in this year’s competition went to Kriya Govender and Yurav Premlall.

Better Bedfordview is an apolitical registered NPO dedicated to improving and maintaining Bedfordview.

The team sweeps streets, tidies, picks up litter, weeds, cuts grass, paints, paves, plants, and fixes potholes. Better Bedfordview was started by concerned residents and is run by committed community volunteers.
