Hurlyvale celebrates another successful Hebraween festival

With tight security and accommodating weather, Hebraween was a fun-for-all celebration at Hurlyvale Park.

For the past seven years, the Hebra Events Committee has volunteered countless hours to organise Hebraween in Hurlyvale.

This year, as they celebrated Hebraween on November 1, residents enjoyed an even bigger event, featuring a rocket ride, inflatables, a big screen for the rugby, and at least 15 more market vendors than in previous years.

Committee member Caryn Myers said they also had extra security provided by CPG and Mamba, and they encouraged the whole community to come out, set up trunks, hand out sweets, dress up, and join the fun.

“A big thank you to the Mamba volunteers who came out to provide support, working at the stalls,” Myers added.

She said the community really comes out to support the event, which has grown in both numbers and success over the years.

However, she noted that the weather at this time of year is always unpredictable, and rain, power, and lighting challenges can make hosting an evening event difficult.

Myers extended her gratitude to the Hebra Events Committee, including events committee chair Gay Silverberg and Hebra Committee chair Jeanette Hofsajer, who volunteer hours of their time to organise Hebraween; all the vendors who book stalls at the market; Mamba for their help and support; and the community for showing up and keeping the tradition alive.
