Hebra homemade harvest market brings festive cheer to Hurlyvale
Community members browse for festive treats at the Hebra Homemade Harvest – Christmas in the Park Market held at Hurlyvale Park.
The Hebra Homemade Harvest – Christmas in the Park brought the festive season vibe to Hurlyvale Park on December 6, offering the perfect setting to discover festive treats, home décor, crafts, gifts, plants, pet goodies, accessories, handmade creations, and much more.
Jeannette Hofsajer, chairperson of the Hebra Committee, explained that the Homemade Harvest Market is held on the first Saturday of each month, except in January due to the holiday season.

“We try to give each market a theme based on the events of that month. Vendors approach us to participate, and we ensure there’s no duplication—if we already have a pancake vendor, we don’t allow another. It’s all based on what they are selling,” said Hofsajer.

She added that the markets are organised by the community, for the community.
Hofsajer and events committee chairperson Gay Silverberg help coordinate the events without receiving payment.
Hayley Pfeifer, who works full-time, handles bookings, payments for the stands, and liaises with vendors—an extensive workload, Hofsajer said.

“We collect money for this area and use it to keep the park looking great. Noel Brownlee cuts the grass, and the money we collect covers the petrol he needs. This is very much a community-spirited effort.
“We hope visitors enjoy themselves at this festive event and find something special to buy,” Hofsajer concluded.
