EMPD hosts men’s dialogue to support officers’ wellbeing
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department’s Spiritual Care Unit hosted a men’s dialogue to address challenges male officers face, from health and relationships to finances and addiction, with strong leadership backing.
The EMPD Spiritual Care Unit hosted a men’s dialogue aimed at addressing critical issues faced by male officers in their personal and professional lives.
The event was attended by EMPD officers across various precincts, with the presence of the acting HOD, Dr Tsholofelo Koopedi, and acting chief of police Ockert Bezuidenhout, showing strong leadership support for the initiative.
The dialogue featured four key panel discussions, covering health issues, marital affairs and relationships, financial management, and addictions and gambling.

EMPD officers engaged meaningfully with the panelists, asking questions and sharing concerns.
The acting chief of police emphasised the importance of supporting members struggling with addiction or personal challenges.
He urged supervisors to play a proactive role by referring affected employees to the relevant support structures within the department.
