Spark Bedfordview scholars raise cancer awareness
Observing World Cancer Day at Spark Bedfordview created a meaningful opportunity for learners to reflect on empathy and community values.
Learners at Spark Bedfordview marked World Cancer Day by coming to school dressed in full uniform with a touch of pink, showing their support and solidarity with individuals and families affected by cancer.
World Cancer Day, on February 4, is observed globally to raise awareness around cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of compassion and support for those impacted by the disease.

Principal Hayley Tungela said observing the day at school created a meaningful opportunity for learners to reflect on empathy and community values.

“Observing World Cancer Day allowed us to intentionally build empathy and understanding, reinforcing the values of care, unity, and community.

“These shared moments help learners recognise the importance of kindness, standing together, and supporting others – lessons that extend far beyond the classroom,” said Tungela.
“Moments like these play an important role in shaping socially aware scholars who understand the value of compassion, unity, and community support.”
