A wetland is an area of land covered by water, either permanently or seasonally, creating a unique ecosystem for plants and animals to thrive.

“School learners from Learskool Dunnotar and Nigel Primary joined the festivities and learnt about the different types of wetlands, the importance of protecting wetlands from climate change and the ways of rehabilitating wetlands,” said city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

“The city, attendees and school learners are committed to an ecological responsibility to preserve the wetlands by eliminating alien species, reducing pollution and regular water purification,” said Dlamini.
