Better Bedfordview to host 2026 Business Breakfast with international affairs expert

Residents, business owners and community stakeholders are invited to Better Bedfordview's 2026 Business Breakfast on July 17, where international relations expert Elizabeth Sidiropoulos will discuss how positive action can drive meaningful change in communities and beyond.

All residents, business owners and community stakeholders are invited to attend Better Bedfordview’s 2026 Business Breakfast on July 17 at SetteBello restaurant at the Italian Club.

The event’s guest speaker is renowned politics and international relations expert Elizabeth Sidiropoulos. The breakfast’s inspiring theme is The Power of Positive Contagion.

Better Bedfordview chairperson Marina Constas explained the premise: “In a world often focused on the spread of crises and bad news, positive contagion refers to the ripple effect whereby good ideas and actions spread powerfully and grow.

“Their positive impact gains momentum as one person’s hope and motivation spreads to others. The positive contagion becomes a virtuous cycle.

“The happiness and optimism spread from individuals to communities, cities, countries and even across borders, and as its message is amplified, more people are inspired to act.”

As chief executive of the South African Institute of International Affairs, Sidiropoulos will explore how positive contagion works on a global scale.

Meanwhile, Constas noted that the concept is equally relevant closer to home.

“Volunteer-led non-profit organisation Better Bedfordview is itself an example of positive contagion in action.

By bringing together residents, businesses, schools, community organisations and local stakeholders, Better Bedfordview is demonstrating how an engaged, caring community can create a ripple effect that boosts property values and grows the local economy, improves safety, strengthens civic pride, supports local enterprise and makes life better for everyone. Each improvement fuels more pride and positivity and inspires more people to get involved and act.”
