Ultimate Pitch Festival to connect SMEs and aspiring entrepreneurs
Local businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs are invited to the Ultimate Pitch Festival in Benoni, where networking, exhibitions and business pitch competitions will take centre stage.
Established at the beginning of the year, Rotary BizEast (Rotary for Business Johannesburg East), operating under District 9400, aimed to modernise Rotary’s ethos for a new generation of entrepreneurs and young professionals.
Preparing to formally receive their chapter, the club is embarking on its first mass networking and fundraising initiative, which will connect local small to medium enterprises (SMEs), aspiring entrepreneurs and business minded youth.
On October 10, Grasslands Driving Range, Benoni AH, will be transformed into a high-energy hub, connecting local business for the inaugural The Ultimate Pitch Festival.

“Through the Rotary BizEast club, we are getting back to the basics of Rotary,” said president Jacqui Keel.
“We are creating a meeting platform for local business that forms part of the entire eastern corridor, from Bedfordview and Edenvale to Benoni, Boksburg Springs and Brakpan, to name a few.
“Through meaningful networking and constructive collaborations we aim to connect businesses, working toward strengthening the local economy to the benefit of the entire community.”
The upcoming festival promises to be a fun day out, for the entire family with three major activities taking place.
• The Open Market Business Expo
Start-ups and SMEs are invited to book a stand to showcase their product or service.
“No matter your hustle, the festival will provide an invaluable platform to connect with business leaders while fostering positive working partnerships, which could propel your business to new heights,” said Keel.

• Smart Shark Pitch Competition
With prizes valued at R40 000, youths aged 13 to 23 are invited to submit their boundary-breaking business models to the Shark Council.
Submitted business plans will be independently adjudicated by the panel after which selected finalists will face the Smart Shark Pitch Council, at the festival to present their idea.
“Our communities are brimming with young innovators looking for an opportunity to give flight to their big ideas,” said Keel.

“We hope to unearth this raw talent and guiding them to create bright futures thus being the change.
“Winners will be announced on the day and creates an opportunity for youths to start building their futures.”
Entry into the competition is free.

• Sharklet Entrepreneurs Day
In an effort to get the entire family involved, the festival will host an exclusive entrepreneur’s day for children aged seven to 12.
Space is limited, but little dreamers with big ideas are invited to sell and promote their creations to the public as well as high flying business men and women.
