Edenglen High matriculant wins full bursary for entrepreneurial talent

Jane Chirwa from Edenglen High has earned a full bursary to BIP Varsity, turning her weekend hair business into an opportunity to study business and entrepreneurship.

Edenglen High School matriculant Jane Chirwa has been awarded a full bursary to study at BIP Varsity, thanks to the thriving hair business she runs on weekends.

Jane was hand-picked by her business studies teachers, who were impressed by her practical application of entrepreneurial skills.

While many learners focus on theory, Jane was putting it into action by managing her own clientele, scheduling, and finances.

“Jane is a rare example of a learner who took classroom concepts and immediately applied them to build something real,” said Mr Mpofu, business studies teacher at Edenglen High School.

“When BIP Varsity asked for a candidate with true entrepreneurial potential, she was our unanimous choice.”

The full bursary, awarded by BIP Varsity to nurture grassroots talent, will allow Jane to study either a business management course or an entrepreneurship course.

Receiving the news, Jane said she was in shock. “I just love doing hair, and I never imagined my passion would lead to this. I’m so grateful and excited to learn how to grow my business into an empire one day,” she said.
