Community celebrates former St Andrew’s School head’s 90th birthday

Thoughtful contributions from various communities enabled St Andrew’s School for Girls to create a special commemorative photobook in honour of their former head’s 90th birthday.

The St Andrew’s School for Girls community recently celebrated the 90th birthday of former junior school headmistress Bridget Walton.

The school, Old Girls’ Association and the Heritage Foundation joined the wider school community in honouring Walton, who led the St Andrew’s Junior School from 1982 to 1995.

Head of marketing and admissions Caterina Cacchioni said Walton’s dedication, leadership and lasting impact continue to be felt by generations of St Andrew’s girls.

The milestone was marked with a small gathering in Howick on June 30. The school also sent Walton messages, cards, gifts and warm wishes to celebrate the occasion.

Cacchioni thanked the wider St Andrew’s community, the Dihlabeng School community and ISASA for sharing birthday wishes, memories and photographs, which were used to create a commemorative photobook in honour of Walton’s 90th birthday.
