St Andrew’s School learners shine at MIT Mathematics and Science Seminar
Abigail Dejenie, Alessia Sofianos, and Xiang Feng from St Andrew’s School for Girls represented the school at MIT’s prestigious Mathematics and Science Seminar, exploring quantum mechanics alongside top learners from across Africa.
St Andrew’s School for Girls congratulated three learners who attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Mathematics and Science Seminar at the beginning of January.
With only 100 places available, this was a remarkable enrichment opportunity for Abigail Dejenie, Alessia Sofianos, and Xiang Feng.
Hosted by MIT in collaboration with St John’s College and ISASA, the seminar focused on quantum mechanics and brought together learners from across Africa.

The girls participated in workshops and group presentations, during which they researched and shared topics in quantum mechanics.
“We are proud of them for representing St Andrew’s with curiosity, confidence and excellence,” the school stated.
