EDITOR – I would like to alert the public of unethical fundraising practices by NGO’s, especially during the Christmas season.
It is highly unethical to send out photographs of children in the care of an organisation, showing pictures of abuse or other personal information on the people they are assisting.
What has happened to social work ethics and respect for client confidentiality?
These fundraising tactics are meant to play on the emotions for the purpose of turning a profit.
I appeal to the public to remain loyal to organisations that have a proven track record and do not resort to such practices.
Support your local Child Welfare, Little Eden, Methodist Care Centre, Hospice, Avril Elizabeth Home, LifeLine Ekurhuleni, organisations that we know are providing selfless care to those in need.
A CONCERNED RESIDENT,
EDENVALE.
Letter received December 12.
