Local budding golfers urged to join the Playgolf programme

The programme is aimed at developing and honing players’ skills and is looking for players to join them at their recently added venue, Reddam BCC.

Bedfordview’s Kim Maddock is looking for aspiring young golfers to join her Playgolf Fourways programme.

The programme is aimed at developing and honing players’ skills and is looking for players to join them at their recently added venue, Reddam BCC.

Kim is an experienced athlete with an impressive sports career spanning rugby, cricket, and hockey as well as wheelchair basketball.

They coach players from Grade R and qualify to coach up to Grade Seven.

Kim has been running the programme for 12 years.

The programme welcomes learners from various schools, aiming to provide a nurturing environment for young golfers to thrive.

They train once a week and the classes are divided into two groups.

“This year we are planning to host two tournaments for our young golfers, offering participants valuable competitive experience,” she said.

The organisation is affiliated with the SA Kids Golf.

“Golf is great because it is something you can play until you are 80. At Playgolf we teach them the basics right the first time. We concentrate a lot on the safety of the children and the coaches,” she explained.

They teach beginner, intermediate and advanced golf.
