RC racers light up Meadowdale in national competition
High-speed thrills, fierce competition, and electric atmosphere, Round 2 of the 2025 SARDA Nitro Nationals at RPM Raceway brought RC racing to life in Meadowdale.
The roar of nitro engines, the hum of finely tuned machines, and the energy of a passionate crowd all came together at RPM Raceway, where round two of the 2025 SARDA Nitro Nationals was hosted.
Taking place from June 27 to 29, it was a weekend to remember.
This national-level showdown drew RC racers from all across South Africa, featuring the country’s top talent as well as fresh up-and-comers looking to make their mark.

Spectators packed into Meadowdale to witness the action, bringing a festive buzz to the venue and igniting excitement throughout the local area.

What stood out most was the diverse field of competitors, comprising both young racers and seasoned veterans who gave it their all.
From the precision of touring cars to the raw power of Buggies and the breathtaking speed of the GT class, every race was packed with action.
Buggy class
Justin Kopke showed exactly why he’s one of the top names in South African RC racing.

His driving was aggressive yet calculated, managing his tyres and fuel strategy to perfection.
Justin kept calm under pressure and delivered a nearly flawless main to secure a well-earned first place.
Errol Warner pushed hard all weekend with consistent lap times and clean lines.
His performance was one of grit and determination, keeping him on the podium and in strong championship contention.
Donnovan drove with real focus, staying out of trouble and making smart moves when it mattered most.
His third-place finish was a reward for his disciplined racing style and ability to stay cool when others cracked.
200mm touring class
Conrad Liebenberg was on another level, taking the win in commanding fashion.

Known for his calm, calculated racing style and deep technical knowledge, Conrad controlled every stage of the race with confidence and class.

Rowen Rudman was a constant threat at the front of the pack. His quick reflexes and precise cornering earned him second place, keeping the pressure on right to the final lap.
Derrick Plank brought experience and strategy to the grid, securing third place with consistent pacing and solid racecraft.
GT class
Jake Bock took a spectacular win in the GT class, showing off not just speed, but control under pressure.
Donnovan returned to the podium in this category, too, proving his versatility across platforms.
Errol Warner made his second podium of the weekend, showing just how much of a force he is this season. His pace and experience kept him in the mix from start to finish.
Notably, Conrad Liebenberg also competed in GT and placed 8th, proving he’s a true multi-class competitor.
Fastest class of the day
Conrad Liebenberg once again came out on top, clocking the fastest lap times of the day.
Hennie Vermaak brought power and consistency to the grid, earning a well-deserved second place. Gert Heunis rounded out the top three with smart racing, clean lines, and excellent speed in traffic.

Beyond the track, there was a powerful sense of camaraderie in the pits, with drivers, teams, and families sharing tools, advice, and laughs.
Vendors, food stalls, and race commentary kept the crowd entertained throughout, while the Meadowdale venue came alive with the energy of hundreds of RC fans.
The SARDA Nitro Nationals season rolls on to round three at RCZM (Radio Control Zone Middleburg).
Anticipation is high as drivers prepare for the next battle in the championship journey.
