Edenvale Junior Panthers shine with multiple Valke IPT selections

Edenvale’s Junior Panther Rugby Club has 18 players selected for Valke IPT teams, showcasing talent and strong season performance.

Edenvale’s Junior Panther Rugby Club has been going from strength to strength this season, gaining momentum on the field with a string of impressive performances.

One of the club’s biggest reasons to celebrate came after the Valke Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT) trials, when 18 Panthers players were selected to represent the Valke IPT teams.

The breakdown of the selections is as follows: one U14 player; four U15 players; six U16 players; seven U18 players.

Originally, 17 players were selected, but a final addition brought the total to 18.

Coach Stephan Kruger said the club is proud of its representatives.

“The club congratulates the players and wishes them and their teams all the best,” he said.

The Panthers have also celebrated strong team results this season. On September 6, the club fielded a full U18 squad against Vereeniging Rugby Club and secured a comfortable victory. The U15s remain unbeaten and top their pool after a 34-7 win over Boksburg on the same day, while the U14s recently defeated NWU 24-12.

Kruger said the club is committed to growth and development.

“The Juniors are growing from strength to strength here at the Panthers. We invite local schools to come and train with us. All players are welcome – we train and develop players at the club.”

He added that the Panthers are supported by IRB Level One and Level Two coaches.

“Here at the Panthers, we are a family. We are a community club, run by the community for the community,” said Kruger.
