EMPD teams shine at sports tournament
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) teams triumphed in netball, athletics and aerobics at the three-day Independent Public Services Sports Tournament in Fordsburg.
The EMPD shone at the three-day Independent Public Services (IPS) Sports Tournament, held in early November at the Arthur Block Police Station in Fordsburg.
The annual tournament aims to foster teamwork, promote employee wellness, and encourage engagement across various government departments.
It also provides EMPD personnel the opportunity to interact with colleagues in a spirit of unity and healthy competition.

Teams competed in multiple sporting codes, including soccer, netball, volleyball, athletics and aerobics.
EMPD’s netball, athletics and aerobics teams secured first place in their respective categories, demonstrating outstanding dedication, fitness and team spirit.
The department commended all participants for representing EMPD with pride and professionalism, highlighting their commitment to both physical wellness and camaraderie.
“This achievement reflects the talent, discipline and determination of our members,” said the EMPD. “We are proud of everyone who took part and contributed to this success.”
