Bowls for cancer

About 100 women bowlers will be battling it out for cancer at Bedfordview Bowls Club on August 9.

These women will be part of the National Women’s Day Ladies’ Fours Tournament which is presented by the club and Campaigning for Cancer, a non-governmental organisation.

Campaigning for Cancer’s chief executive officer (CEO), Miss Lauren Pretorius, said that her organisation campaigns for cancer patients to get the necessary treatment they need. She said her organisation is working with government policy-makers, trying to change some of the polices that govern the treatment of cancer. She also said the organisation helps cancer patients deal with myths and stigma around cancer.

Ms Tracy Tingle from Bedfordview Bowls Club and the convener of the event organising committee said that the event was to advocate for adequate treatment for cancer patients.
