Kayakers compete in Parys

Edenvale residents, Monre and Divan Barnard, participated in the beginners and intermediate competition respectively.

Monre achieved first place in the beginners category and Divan achieved third place in the intermediate category.

Based on the kayaker’s skill level, participants were grouped into three categories; beginners, intermediates and experts.

The kayakers hit the water to show their best sets of tricks in three heats of 45-second runs. Participants had to make every effort to stay afloat in a rough and constantly changing wave of surging water.

The paddlers performed flips, turns, twists and balancing acts.
