Fightstar 6 set to take place soon
Fightstar is the Amateur MMA development partner to Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) Africa, the biggest MMA promotion on the African continent.
One of Africa’s most exciting Amateur Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) tournaments, Fightstar 6, will be held at the St Johns Hellenic Hall in Primrose on March 8 at 6pm.
Fightstar has a huge following, including people from local suburbs.
Fighting Fit-EFC Africa development Athlete, Cassim “the Phantom” Khusu from Kensington, will be competing at the event. He has won all four of his fights so far.
Fightstar matchmaker’s Grant Oliff said, “Fightstar 6 is going to be another epic event promising an action-packed night of top entertainment.”
Fightstar is the Amateur MMA development partner to Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) Africa, the biggest MMA promotion on the African continent.
“Together with EFC Africa, this event is used to raise awareness and funds for the Fighting Fit Africa (FFA) community and youth upliftment project,” said Fightstar and FFA president Pietro Cignoli.
FFA is a youth and community upliftment project that promotes a healthier lifestyle through encouraging participation in sports and fitness activities as well as MMA athlete development.
The FFA development project is based at the 46 Brigade Army Base in Kensington.
“It is all about developing our youth. MMA training has a huge impact on young lives. These youngsters, wherever they are from, get to interact with their heroes and then, when they go back home and train with their friends and communities, they become heroes in their own right. We are literally providing an alternative to the streets, and our guys are working to achieve their best. We want to provide a space that our development youngsters can aspire to. They know that if they work hard they can one day compete at FightStar, and from there, hopefully at EFC Africa,” said Pietro.
Fightstar offers amateur MMA fighters the perfect platform to showcase their skills to EFC president Cairo Howarth and EFC Africa matchmaker Graeme Cartmell. “We are proud to be associated with FightStar and the FFA youth development project. It is amazing to see the sport of MMA making such positive change in the lives of young people, and the possibility of discovering talent that may not otherwise have been seen is incredibly exciting,” said Cairo.
