Bonaero defeats Edenvale at home

Edenvale FC's coach, Julian Speel, said they tried a new formation for the game against Bonaero FC.

Edenvale FC lost 2-1 against Bonaero FC in the U/16 Premier League match played at the Edenvale Sports Grounds on Sunday, August 31.

The visitors were first out of the starting blocks, sending numbers forward, hoping for an early goal to unsettle the home team.

Edenvale FC absorbed the pressure and dealt with the crosses well.

Edenvale FC’s coach, Julian Speel, said they tried a new formation for the game against Bonaero FC.

“We tried to put an extra player up front. We decided that there are only a few games left in the season, so we would try to be more attacking. That game plan nearly worked, as we were unlucky to lose on the day,” said Speel.

He said the team had plenty of chances, but did not convert them.

“It is a problem we have had all year, we are not clinical in front of the goal. We need to be stronger and fight more,” said Coach Speel.

He said the players are giving 100 percent on the field and that is all he wants.

Edenvale FC welcomed back its captain and goalkeeper, Khani, who was out with an injury for the previous game.
