Fightstar presents another action-packed fight card.
Fightstar 11 will take place on Saturday, February 28, at the home of Fightstar, the St John’s Hellenic Hall, at the corner of Lobeilia and Wychwood roads in Primrose.
There will be over 20 fights on the night, with three Title Fights and two ladies fights.
Fights on the main card promise to be explosive and will feature the following contenders:
- Santa-Marie Venter vs Natalie Ausmeier
- Tresor Boluwa vs Sloane Goosen
- Rudi Roets vs Cole Henning
- JP Van Der Merwe vs JP Buys (Bantam Weight Title)
- Jedri Koekemoer vs JP Van Rooyen (Welter Weight Title)
- Niel Duplessis vs Merrick Bengis.
“The main card bouts promise to deliver six of the best fights you will ever see in SA amateur MMA,” said Fightstar matchmaker Mr Grant Oliff.
“Not only do we have three title fights, but the winner of the Rudi Roets vs Cole Henning clash will go on to fight for the belt.”
Fightstar 11 promises to be one of the biggest Fightstar events so far and, with a ranking system clearly being shifted into place, amateur athletes have never had more motivation to work for their spot in the Fightstar hexagon.
“Fighters and gyms realise that Fightstar means business and this is the stepping stone to the big time,” said Fightstar President, Mr Pietro Cignoli.
“The fight preparation camps are taken seriously and the fighters’ commitment to the Fightstar promotion is amazing. The level of amateur MMA has grown in leaps and bounds; Grant Oliff has stepped up once again and delivered the fights that people want to see. This card is going to be one of the most explosive cards to date and fighters from all over South Africa will be showcasing their skills at Africa’s most exciting Amateur MMA promotion,” said Mr Cignoli.
As part of the social responsibility programme, Fightstar and EFC Africa proudly support the Fighting Fit African Youth and Community Development programmes, which encourage people to participate in fitness and sporting activities.
“We will continue to grow the sport of MMA in the country and develop young athletes in the Fighting Fit Africa programme looking to create careers in the MMA world,” said Mr Cignoli.
“We are proud to be associated with the Fighting Fit Africa Youth Development Project,” said Cairo Howarth, EFC worldwide’s president.
“It is amazing to see the sport of MMA making such positive changes in the lives of young people. The possibility of discovering talent, that may not otherwise have been seen, is incredibly exciting,” he added.
