Rising Stars Junior Football Club is pleading for donations.
The club was founded in 2015 with the aim of keeping young boys off the streets.
The founder and coach Francis Phiri’s vision was to emancipate the children from the jaws of street life and empower them with a positive attitude to better the society.
The club has made it its priority to ensure that no child in Joburg east areas will be deprived of their future goals due to lack of resources.
The club is split into four age groups; u-9, u-11, u-13 and u-17.

The teams are involved in tournaments and various friendly matches and recently they had friendlies with notable high-profile clubs and academies such as Bidvest Wits.
Phiri said the survival of the club’s teams has been due to contributions by willing parents.
“The teams have been surviving from donations. We believe that social and economic empowerment of young boys is the beginning of the end of poverty,” said Phiri.
The football club has more than 60 players and has grown over the years.
“Due to a lack of sufficient resources we send our promising players to big clubs to better their careers at no fee. The team also has children from orphanage(s) who are struggling to pay their school fees.
“We are going to mentor our children in all aspects of life to improve our society. We would appreciate any donations,” said Phiri.Contact Phiri on 060 492 3999 or 071 088 3465.
