Three Edenvale swimmers are set to travel to Italy later this year to compete at various international swimming events.

Malaza described being selected to represent South Africa as an honour.

He said he is looking forward to the international exposure and experience from the Tri-Colour Games.

Although Letley has represented South Africa at the 2016 Junior Open Water Championships, he said it is a great feeling to be going again.

“It feels really good to be at the top of my game again,” said Letley.

Edenvale High School learners Clayton Malaza, Kyle McKenzie and Kyle Letley of ESP Aquatics Academy will represent South Africa at various international swimming events in Italy later this year.

From a young age, the three Edenvale High School learners had shown a strong interest in the sport.

McKenzie and Letley began their swimming careers while in primary school, while Malaza showed a keen interest in the sport from the age of four.

Over the years the three have put in the hours, gained the experience and made their way through the ranks in order to be where they are today.

While overseas, the local South African swimmers will be interacting with swimmers and coaches from across the world.

They hope to pick up new techniques and become better swimmers.

“Training alongside different swimmers and learning from them will be a good experience,” said Mckenzie.

Malaza said he is looking forward to comparing himself with other swimmers and seeing where he stands in comparison to them.

McKenzie said because this is the first time he will be competing overseas, he is a bit nervous but is looking forward to the cultural exposure.
