“Seeing the number of teams playing in Rhodes Park gives one hope. You see a number of young people who are interested in soccer which means we do have youth that still love sports. They could get involved in illegal activities in the community, but instead, they have chosen to be here and be active doing what they love,” said Madondo.
Dihna Belgers was established earlier this year.
“I established the team after seeing a need in the community. As a soccer lover and player myself I wanted to share the skill,” explained Madondo.

The Denver hostel resident from KwaZulu-Natal said soccer has always been part of his life.
“I love being involved in the community and working with youngsters. Even back at home I have established teams. These teams still exist and inspire me to continue giving back to the younger generation,” shared Madondo.
He said the team has been performing well since it started and that he is proud of the boys.
“The boys have been winning many of their games and as a coach that makes me proud. Because it made see how much they love what they do,” said Madondo.
He said the boys are committed, dedicated and passionate and that deserves rewards.
“I’m proud of their success and I will be doing an award ceremony to acknowledge their performance. I hope the awards will also be an encouragement for them to continue improving their skills,” explained Madondo.
He said his wish for all the teams that play in Rhodes Park is to have a formal soccer league that can be recognised by the city.
“If our league can be recognised it can benefit the children and they might have a chance to play professionally in the future,” said Madondo.
