Edenvale racer leaves her mark in Europe

"Now I can go back home and start preparing for a fresh attack with the wisdom of a season’s experience behind me.”

Edenvale racer Tasmin Pepper closed off her W Series women’s world championship with 12th place at the Brands Hatch season finale.

Held on August 11, in England, Pepper ended the season 10th overall and secured a seat in next year’s championship.

“I finished 10th in my first W Series season and I am so happy with that,” said Pepper.

“Most importantly, I have kept my seat for next year, so now I can go back home and start preparing for a fresh attack with the wisdom of a season’s experience behind me.”

Before taking to the track, Pepper qualified 15th and fought her way up during the race.

“Brands is a tough track to learn and I messed up in qualifying, so I started quite far back.”

Pepper got off to a good start making up a few positions but then lost them again while avoiding a stalled car on the grid.

“I had to fight back to 12th as I chased down the car ahead, although I could not find a way past in the end.”

Pepper who holds the title of the Johannesburg’s reigning Polo Cup Masters champion started her journey to the finals when she was selected as one of 64 finalists in the elimination phase which whittled the number down to 18.

Pepper’s races took her across Europe to countries such as Germany, Belgium, Italy, and Holland.

“It has been a stunning experience and I can only work on what I did this year and go back fighting more consistently for that top five in 2020,” said Pepper.

She thanked W Series for giving her the incredible opportunity and her family and friends for their support.

“I cannot wait to go back next year.”
