Gillooly’s Parkrun run over Bryanston Parkrun world record
Gillooly’s Parkrun now holds the world record by 0.1 seconds.
The Gillooly’s Parkrun relay team set a new world record, held previously by Bryanston Parkrun at the Gillooly’s Parkrun on August 17.
The team now holds the world record at 13:28, 11 for a parkrun run by a relay team, with Bryanston’s record set at 13:28,21.
Gillooly’s Parkrun now holds the world record by 0.1 seconds.
Trevor Salzwedel, a Gilllooly’s Parkrun runner and volunteer, said the concept came from the parkrun world record holder Andrew Baddeley, who ran a 5km parkrun in 2012 in 13 minutes and 48 seconds in London.
Trevor said the 15 person relay team attempted what one person did.

“It’s a concept that brings the community together, bringing the people of parkrun together and includes community involvement,” said Trevor.
He said the team attempted this record in March but it did not work out as planned, as they were short two runners with a number of other problems.
“We did some practicing a week before.
“We also did some baton exchange training and did a dry run before with four missing runners,” said Trevor.
The order at which the team ran in segments was 0-1: Shannon Adendorff, 1-2: Dan Stillerman, 2-3: Daniel Turbridge, 3-4: Mark Chatham, 4-5: Trevor Toerin, 5-6: Tony Silva, 6-7: Troydyn Putter, 7-8: Wayne Holmes, 8-9: Alwayter Ali Tsai, 9-10: Armand Fourie, 10-11: Michael Lucas, 11-12: Justin Adendorff, 12-13: Wesley Chetty, 13-14: Melanie Sher and 14-15: Trevor Salzwedel.

“Thank you to everyone for your comments. It was good to be part of this team and I’m super happy that I chose you.
“Everyone was a valuable team player and we wouldn’t have done it without you. You guys are awesome people with great personalities. You are all fantastic people,” said Trevor.
Trevor hopes the event will persuade more people to run and to run competitively.
“I’m very proud of what we managed to obtain and hope to see some familiar faces at some races outside of parkrun,” said Trevor.
