JWSA claim massive 11-1 victory

"The players in this team know what the game means. As cliché as it might sound, the players on my team are here to play football because of their passion.”

The u-14 Jenny Wu Sports Academy from Malvern played a friendly match against Oceans FC on February 15 at Rhodes Park.

It was an eye-catching match as both teams battled it out.

After the first half, JWSA was leading 4-0 and players showed their eagerness to claim victory.

JWSA showed skill on the field and claimed a massive 11-1 victory.

The EXPRESS caught up with the coach for JWSA, Maqhawe Mntima (23), who is passionate and excited about the future of his team.

“I know what it can do to players when their dreams are shattered. I was once a player. My love for the game inspires me to mentor the players and encourage them to follow the right direction.

“The players in this team know what the game means. As cliché as it might sound, the players on my team are here to play football because of their passion.”

Maqhawe said he sees bright futures for most players in the team.

“We are training hard to keep momentum in the right place. We are preparing for a tournament in March and we are determined to come back with the trophy.

“Even though we do not have facilities to train, we go to schools and ask to use their sports field to continue with our training sessions.

“My main goal is to take the team to the next level. I believe our hard work and dedication will pay off.”
