Edenvale M.O.T.H Shellhole hosts annual bowls fundraiser
“Everyone comes with open minds and has a great time just enjoying themselves,”
It was a day of fun, unity and community camaraderie when Dickie Fritz M.O.T.H (Memorable Order of the Tin Hats) Shellhole hosted its annual bowls fundraiser.
The fundraiser was held at Edenvale Bowling Club on May 24 and attracted 140 participants.
Organiser Cheryl Hartwell explained that the event had been running for 63 years.

She said that for this year’s fundraiser, each green was strung for seven.
“This year we saw a massive turnout of players; there were Moth teams, community teams and teams from the various local bowling clubs in the area,” said Hartwell.
She said that the shellhole’s fundraising events are generally well supported by the greater Edenvale community.

“There is such good camaraderie among the participants.
“Everyone comes with open minds and has a great time just enjoying themselves,” said Hartwell.
Laurie Oldroyd, who helped organise the day, said it had a great turnout, with many participants supporting the raffle.
Oldroyd explained that the fundraiser was held to raise essential funds for the maintenance, upkeep, and renovations of the shellhole’s cottages.

Hartwell extended her thanks to all who made the day possible, including the Edenvale Bowling Club.
Some of these included Ok Urban, GoZone, DisChem and the Birchwood Hotel.
A special note of thanks was given to Mark Burger, a.k.a “Coach” for all the assistance and help he provided.
“The bowls club have really supported us wholeheartedly over the years,” she explained.
