Bedfordview Primary girls and boys warm up the 20th Saheti Winter Festival
Bedfordview Primary School soccer and netball players bring home a trophy, silver and bronze medals from 20th Saheti Winter Festival.
On one of the coldest mornings of the season, Bedfordview Primary School’s (BPS) soccer and netball squads warmed up and delivered blistering performances at the 20th Saheti Winter Festival in early June.
Across age groups and codes, the BPS teams combined tactical discipline, skill execution and grit to produce standout results.
U13 Soccer boys – tournament champions

The U13 boys put together a faultless campaign, going unbeaten from the group stage through to the final to lift the trophy.

Operating with a compact defensive shape and quick transitional play, they registered multiple clean sheets and controlled matches with a composed build from the back.
Individual honour went to Amin Canjangue, who was named the most valuable player of the tournament.
“Amin’s impact was clear to the coaches and players, and being the top goal scorer for BPS showed just how talented and dedicated he is,” said the U13 co-coaches Sihle Ngcebetsha and Neo Mokgosinyane.
U12 Soccer boys – silver medallists
The U12 side produced a compelling tournament run, navigating a tough draw to reach the final.
They matched their opponents in tactical discipline and intensity, with both teams cancelling each other out throughout the match.

The decider went to penalties, where, after a tense shootout, the boys narrowly missed out.
Their campaign featured strong defensive organisation, disciplined pressing from the front and quick counter-attacking transitions, with Raphael Kalambay receiving a special nod from the BPS coaches as their player of the tournament.

“Being finalists in a tournament of this calibre is an achievement in itself, and the squad showed mental resilience, tactical awareness and a never-say-die attitude that bodes well for future competitions,” said the U12 co-coaches Joshua O’Reilly and Sameer Umar.
U12 Netball girls – bronze medallists
The BPS U12 netballers delivered a polished tournament performance to secure third place and bring home the bronze. The girls combined accurate feeding into the circle, consistent centre-pass retention and tight defensive rotations to win loose balls and create second-chance opportunities.
BPSs’ defensive unit produced crucial intercepts and rebounds, said the head of netball, Chanel Nash and U12 team coach Megan Holtz, adding that they were so proud of this talented and hardworking team.
Bedfordview also secured the title of Overall School Winner – a testament to depth, coaching and squad cohesion across the programme.
