Edenvale karatekas shine at Angola championship
Leira Ahmed won gold, while Caitlin and Chiyi earned bronze medals for South Africa at the UFAK Championship in Angola.
Karateka from Edenvale Goju Kai recently took the international stage in Angola, where they excelled.
The youngsters represented South Africa at the 23rd UFAK Region South Karate Championship in Luanda,
Leira Ahmed claimed gold in kata, while Caitlin and Chiyi each earned bronze medals in kumite.
The girls have trained under Shihan Sean Ahmed for more than 10 years and achieved their black belts in Japan in 2023.

Earlier this year, Leira and Caitlin were also awarded national colours, recognising their excellence on the international stage.
“Their achievements are a proud moment for both Edenvale Goju Kai and South African karate.
“Their success in Angola is a testament to years of hard work, discipline and perseverance,” said Ahmed.
