Jozi Triathlon crowns sprint and super sprint champions
They won the men's and women's sprint race titles.
Bryce Fowler and Sarah Benning clinched the sprint titles at the fourth SEESA Jozi Triathlon at CR Swart Dam, while Nathan Proome and Paiton van der Merwe were crowned the super sprint champions.
Fowler won the men’s sprint gold in 01:10:12 after a dominant display. He was first out of the water after covering the 750m swim in 11:02.
He extended his lead on the bike leg after riding the 20km course in 37:51 and completed the race with a strong run, covering the 5km course in 21:18.

He clocked 01:10:12 for the title, while Jason Nicholas Vermeleun was second in 01:14:12 and Myles Steer third in 01:24:46.
Benning dominated the women’s field across all three disciplines. She covered the swim in 14:48 and extended her lead with a strong 40:50 bike leg. She ran the 5km course in 23:43 to complete her victory in 01:19:22.
The inaugural winner of the main race in 2023 Debbie O’Leary finished second in 01:23:41. Sharvani Govender of Central Gauteng Triathlon completed the top three in 01:24:46.
In the super sprint distance, Proome recovered from a slow swim to dominate the bike and run legs for his victory in the men’s race.
He was fourth out of the water after covering the 400m swim in 03:17, to follow Kyle Dukoff-Gordon (02:53) and Van der Merwe (02:57) into the first transition.

Proome then reeled in Dukoff-Gordon on the 10km bike leg, covering the distance in a fast 21:23, before completing his victory with a strong 08:40 on the 2.5km run, clocking a combined 33:21.
Dukoff-Gordon was second in 36:05 and Nathan Oosthuizen third in 42:14.
Van der Merwe started off with a strong swim, coming out of the water second overall and first in the women’s race. She then covered the bike leg in 23:24, before completing her victory with a strong 09:20 run.
She ran a combined 35:52, finishing second overall in the race, while Karli van der Westhuizen was second in 44:55. Alet Marè completed the podium in 45:27.
Other results
In the team events, Takalani Madzahadzi and Team Die Bekker Sussies won the team of two race in the standard distance, while Team Full Throttle clinched the team of two title.

Team Couple Marais won the spring distance team of two race, while The Wheel Deal won the team of three title. Team A and M clinched the super-sprint race.
