St Andrew’s squash team earn medals

The u-13 IPT team finished in third place with a bronze medal.

St Andrew’s School for Girls competed for the South African Country Districts Squash Team in the South African Schools Annual Squash Interprovincial Tournament (IPT).

They competed at the Parkview Squash Centre and St John’s College courts.

The team performed well finishing in sixth place among 12 teams.

The u-13 IPT team finished in third place with a bronze medal.

Hannah-Grace McBride was ranked number one in the u-16 section for Easterns.

At the end of the tournament, the South African selectors picked the u-16 girls top eight in South Africa.

Hannah-Grace was selected as the only Eastern and Central Gauteng player to make it and will be touring Malaysia based on her performance and results at the three qualifying tournaments.

Lauren Matheson also had a good tournament and was ranked as number two in the u-16 section.

Rachel Shannon received a gold medal along with her teammates for winning the u-14A girls section, beating the Border Girls u-14 team.

Rachel also made the SA top seven players list for her age group and in recognition of this, she received a South Africa schools gold medal.
