Jeppe Girls are Central Gauteng League cricket champs
Four players from the Jeppe Girls first team were selected for provincial teams.
Jeppe High School for Girls had a fruitful cricket season, closing it off with being this year’s Central Gauteng Cricket League champions.

The girls played against Queens High School in the semi-finals of the Central Gauteng League.
They went in to bat first and made 124 for two in the allocated 20 overs.
Grade Eight learner Robyn Kamerman scored 52 runs and Zoey Cuerden took two Queens’ wickets in the first over.
Queens scored 120 in their 20 overs, which meant Jeppe qualified for the league finals against the Steyn City School.
In that match, Jeppe fielded first and restricted Steyn City to 137 for two in their 20 overs.
Jeppe went in to bat and despite efforts from Steyn City, Jeppe managed to equal the scores with 137 for four in their 20 overs.
What ensued was a dramatic super over.
Jeppe stayed on the pitch to bat for one last over and made 11 runs off the allocated six balls.
The Steyn City batsmen then went out to bat.
Despite their best efforts they could only make seven runs in their final over.
This victory made Jeppe Girls the winners of this year’s Central Gauteng Cricket League after an incredible and brave performance by the team.

Kaylee van Rooyen was selected for the Central Gauteng u-16B team and Snamile Mthembu and Kamerman were selected for the Central Gauteng u-16A team.
Jenna Searle and Cuerden were both selected for the Central Gauteng u-19 squad, and Searle was selected for the final team.
The school is proud of the girls’ achievements and victory also wishes them good luck for their tournaments in December.
