Western Province triumph over Lions as Border CD clinch late draw at FNB Girls Rugby Week

Border Country Districts and Blue Bulls end U16 clash all square at Queens High School.

Western Province wrapped up their campaign with a dominant win over the Golden Lions in the final U18 match of the 2025 FNB Girls Rugby Week, while Border Country Districts forced a dramatic late draw against the Blue Bulls in the concluding U16 fixture on July 4 at Queens High School in Johannesburg.

The Cape side overcame a slow start, running in five unanswered tries and scoring 31 points after the break.

Flyhalf Nuha Levy starred with a try and three conversions to secure WP’s unbeaten status, matching the Blue Bulls’ clean sweep in the U18 division.

Earlier in the day, the Limpopo Blue Bulls beat the Griffons 31–15, with No 8 Amanda Seokotsa scoring a standout hat-trick.

Despite a narrow 27–25 loss to the Pumas, Valke prop Jessica Ejeleonu made headlines with three tries of her own.

In U16 action, the Golden Lions ended their campaign with a strong 17–7 win over WP, notching their third consecutive victory.

Border Country Districts maintained their unbeaten run with a 12–12 draw against the Bulls.

After leading 7–0 at half-time, Border were forced to fight back in the closing stages, with loosehead prop Endinako Fetumane scoring the decisive equaliser.

Several other teams, including Eastern Province, South Western Districts, the Pumas, Border and KwaZulu-Natal, also registered final-day wins to close out the tournament on a high.
