Spend Mandela Day at Horwood’s Farm
All volunteers will be given a certificate of participation and a light meal, once their 67 minutes have been completed.

The next Horwood’s Farm market will take place on Sunday, July 19, and will form part of the Friends of Horwood’s Farm Mandela Day community clean-up.
Over the weekend of July 18 and 19, the Friends of Horwood’s Farm will host the ’67 Minutes for Mandela Day’ community participation.
All residents are invited to participate in the event.
Those attending the event will have the opportunity to meet ward councillors as well as members of nationally nominated community initiative Tiles4Change and the Edenvale CPF.
All volunteers will be given a certificate of participation and a light meal, once their 67 minutes have been completed.
On Saturday, July 18 between 10am and 4pm, the Scouts and other volunteers will be sanding, scraping and preparing the Homestead farmhouse for painting on Sunday, July 19.
At 4pm on the day, the Friends of Horwood’s Farm will have a potjie kos competition, with prizes donated by Karaglen Spar, as well as a sing-along around a bonfire until 8pm.
Families are welcome to join in the fun and bring a braai.
A good supply of marshmellows will be available for all to enjoy.
On Sunday, July 19 between 9am and 3pm, volunteers from the community will be painting the homestead and cleaning the gardens. All the paint for this project has been donated by Mr Manny de Freitas of Paint Trade Edenvale.
Richard Lewarne, a Scouter from the 1st Wychwood Scout Group, has repaired and rebuilt the jungle gym at the Homestead for the last two months, with the hopes of achieving his Springbok Badge. This project will be completed on Sunday.
Edenvale Radio will be doing an outside broadcast from the farm on the day and there will be a variety of stalls selling homemade wares, as well as numerous food stalls.
The K9 Unit will do a display at 1pm.
