Bedfordview SPCA appeals for winter donations as supplies run low
Bedfordview SPCA is calling on the community to donate pet food, blankets and toys to help care for rescued animals during the cold winter months.
The Germiston Bedfordview SPCA is appealing to the public for urgent donations as it prepares for the colder winter months, with food and warm bedding supplies running low.
The organisation is requesting cat and dog food, both wet and dry, to help sustain abandoned, rescued and surrendered animals in its care.
Supporters are encouraged to donate any brand or quantity, as all contributions help cover daily feeding costs.

The SPCA is also calling for fleece or storm blankets to help keep animals warm during cold nights.
“Winter can be especially difficult for animals in shelter care, and warm bedding makes an enormous difference to their comfort and wellbeing,” said Mthunzi Motha, kennel manager at the Germiston Bedfordview SPCA.
“While we deeply appreciate every donation received, we encourage supporters, where possible, to donate fleece or storm blankets rather than budget blankets, as these tear easily and can sometimes be chewed or ingested by dogs.”
In addition, enrichment toys for both dogs and cats are needed to help reduce stress and provide stimulation while animals await adoption.
Donations can be delivered directly to the Germiston Bedfordview SPCA at 12 Junction Road, Elandsfontein 90-Ir, Germiston, or placed in the donation box outside Pick n Pay Bedford Centre.
The SPCA has thanked the community for its ongoing support and compassion.
