Happy Chappies makes a move
Chappies hopes to lift SuperSport United from a bad start to the PSL.
Former Benoni Northerns Football Club player Ryan Chapman has received a new lease on life in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), with his recent loan move to SuperSport United.
The striker is hoping that his move from Bidvest Wits will revitalise the goal-scoring form that made him so prolific in front of goal in previous seasons.
The player affectionately known as “Chappies” made his debut for his country against Equatorial Guinea, in January, 2012.
He recently told the City Times that he was extremely happy to make the move to Pretoria.
The 27-year-old Chapman forms part of a season-long loan agreement that saw SuperSport United’s winger, Sameehg Doutie, moving in the opposite direction to join Gavin Hunt at Wits.
Chappies made his debut for SuperSport United as a second half replacement – a result that went against the team, who finished 2-1, and marked the end of coach Cavin Johnson’s tenure at SuperSport.
Johnson was replaced by former national team coach Gordon Igesund, last week.
He made his first start for his new team in the disappointing 2-0 defeat against Kaizer Chiefs, at the FNB Stadium, last Saturday.
The result means that SuperSport United are in a precarious position on the PSL table, having picked up only three points in five league games.
Speaking about his move to Matsatsantsa, Chapman said: “It is a great opportunity for me to go out there and get some game time.
“There have obviously been some difficulties around the club, with a new coach coming in, but I am just focused on my main aim of playing regularly and scoring goals for the club.”
